Fort William, Loch Linnhe and the road onto Skye for the Cuillin, Portree and the Storr. Best given two or three days rather than squeezed into one.
The carved interior at Rosslyn, the abbeys along the Tweed and the hills south of the city. Short driving distances — good for a gentler day.
The Glenfinnan Viaduct, the steam train if the timetable allows, and the Old Town closes that shaped the books. A favourite with families.

Custom Tour Questions
How is a custom tour different from your day tours?
Our day tours are fixed routes we run often, with a set price. A custom tour starts blank: you choose the stops, the order, how long you linger and what time we set off. Everything else — private vehicle, driver-guide, door-to-door pickup — works the same way.
How much does a custom tour cost?
We quote per vehicle, not per person, so the price depends on the route and how long you are out rather than the size of your group. Send us your rough plan and you will have a written quote back within 24 hours. Our fixed day tour prices are a fair guide to what a comparable custom day costs.
Can you plan a route for more than one day?
Yes. Multi-day trips can run point-to-point across the Highlands, the islands and down into northern England, and we can arrange accommodation along the way. See our multi-day tours, or read about full trip planning on the bespoke tours page.
How many people can you take?
One vehicle comfortably takes up to six guests plus luggage. Larger parties are fine — we simply run a second vehicle and keep the group together on the same route.
How far in advance should I book?
Two to four weeks is comfortable in summer and around festival time; a few days is often enough in the quieter months. If your dates are close, message us anyway — we will tell you honestly whether we can cover it.
What if the weather turns?
We drive in it. Your guide will reorder the stops on the day to chase the better light, swap an exposed viewpoint for somewhere sheltered, or put an indoor stop in the middle. Nothing is cancelled for rain — this is Scotland.
Can we change the plan on the day?
That is rather the point. If you want an extra hour somewhere, a stop you spotted from the road or an earlier finish, just say so. The only fixed points are the pickup time and, on cruise days, getting you back to the ship.
Do you pick up outside Edinburgh?
Yes. Most days start in Edinburgh, but we regularly collect from Glasgow, the airports, Rosyth and South Queensferry cruise terminals, and hotels elsewhere in central Scotland. Tell us where you are staying and we will confirm.
