See the best of Scotland in a single day, at your own pace. Your local driver-guide collects you from your Edinburgh hotel, shares the stories behind every stop and has you back the same evening.
Looking for the best day trips from Edinburgh? Our six private Edinburgh day tours cover Scotland’s most-loved places — a day trip to the Highlands with Glencoe and Loch Ness, a St Andrews tour along the Fife coast, Stirling Castle and Loch Lomond, Rosslyn Chapel and the Borders, or the city itself. Unlike a bus tour, every one of these Scotland tours from Edinburgh runs in your own vehicle, with an expert driver-guide, hotel pickup and a return the same evening.

The highlights of Scotland’s capital and the charming coastal village of South Queensferry — Edinburgh Castle, the Old Town, St Giles’ Cathedral, Victoria Street and The Elephant House, then out to the Forth Bridges.

Stirling Castle and the iconic Wallace Monument, the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond, and a tasting at the traditional Glengoyne whisky distillery.

Our most complete day trip to the Highlands from Edinburgh — across Rannoch Moor to Glencoe and the Three Sisters, on past Fort William, then time at Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle before the drive home.

A St Andrews tour from Edinburgh — over the Forth Bridges to the home of golf, its ruined cathedral and the fishing villages of the East Neuk: Crail, Anstruther and Pittenweem.

The world-famous Rosslyn Chapel, known for its intricate carvings and mysterious history, then onward through the rolling countryside of the Scottish Borders.

Iconic filming locations, historic abbeys and sweeping landscapes, travelling through the Scottish Borders and across into Northumberland.
All six tours are private to your party, start with pickup from your Edinburgh hotel and bring you back the same evening. Each price covers the whole vehicle for up to four guests, so two travellers pay the same as four.
*Approximate one-way driving time from central Edinburgh, without stops. 2026 prices per vehicle for up to four guests; attraction tickets and meals are paid separately.
Many tours from Edinburgh run on large coaches with fixed timings and set stops. Our private tours of Scotland from Edinburgh give you the same day out entirely on your terms.
We collect you from your Edinburgh hotel or holiday let and bring you back to the door — no meeting points, no early walk to a coach stop.
A Range Rover or executive vehicle for your party only — never shared with other passengers, unlike a bus tour.
Linger at the places you love and skip the ones you don’t. The route bends around you, not a timetable.
History, stories and the best photo stops from a guide who knows Scotland — not just the road.
One price per vehicle — two travellers pay the same as four, and there’s no deposit to start planning.

If none of the six days above is quite right, we’ll build something that is — a single day shaped entirely around your interests, or a 3-day or 5-day Scotland tour from Edinburgh across the Highlands, the Isle of Skye and the islands.
Multi-day journeys designed from scratch — the Highlands, Isle of Skye, whisky trails and island-hopping, with luxury stays arranged end to end.
Take any day above and reshape it — swap stops, add a distillery or a castle, change the pace, or combine two days into one journey of your own.
The most popular day tours from Edinburgh are the Highlands & Loch Ness (Glencoe, Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle in about 12 hours), Castles, Lochs and Whisky (Stirling Castle, Loch Lomond and a Glengoyne tasting in about 10 hours) and St Andrews and Fife (the home of golf and the East Neuk fishing villages in about 8 hours). Closer to the city, Rosslyn Chapel and the Borders, or Edinburgh with South Queensferry, make easy shorter days. For a fuller comparison, read our complete guide to day trips from Edinburgh.
Yes. Our Highlands & Loch Ness day tour leaves Edinburgh in the morning, crosses Rannoch Moor to Glencoe, continues past Fort William to Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle, and brings you back the same evening. It’s a long day — around 12 hours — so we travel in comfort and stop wherever you like.
No, but it is a full day. Loch Ness is roughly 160 miles from Edinburgh, about 3.5 to 4 hours’ drive each way. Our Highlands & Loch Ness day tour takes around 12 hours and breaks the journey with stops at Rannoch Moor, Glencoe and Fort William. Because the vehicle is yours, you rest when you like. If you would rather spend longer at the loch, a multi-day tour with an overnight in the Highlands is more relaxed.
Yes. Our Kingdom of Fife & St Andrews tour crosses the Forth Bridges to St Andrews, the home of golf, and visits the fishing villages of the East Neuk before returning to Edinburgh the same day.
Every tour is fully private. Unlike coach or bus tours from Edinburgh, you travel in your own Range Rover or executive vehicle with your own driver-guide, and the vehicle is never shared with other passengers.
We collect you from your hotel, guest house or holiday let in Edinburgh and bring you back to the door at the end of the day. Pickups from Edinburgh Airport or the cruise terminal can also be arranged — just let us know when you book.
Our day tours from Edinburgh start from £600 per vehicle for up to four guests. The price is per vehicle, not per person, and covers your driver-guide, fuel, parking and road tolls. Attraction tickets, distillery tastings and meals are paid separately.
Each tour lasts 8, 10 or 12 hours, door to door. The city and South Queensferry, St Andrews and Rosslyn Chapel routes take about 8 hours, Stirling Castle with Loch Lomond about 10, and the Highlands & Loch Ness and Harry Potter days about 12. If you would like to stay out longer, extra time is £55 per hour and always agreed with you first.
Day tours from Edinburgh work in every season. From May to September the long daylight, up to about 17 hours in June, suits the 12-hour Highlands and Loch Ness day. In winter, with around 7 hours of daylight in December, the shorter 8-hour routes such as St Andrews, Rosslyn Chapel or the city and South Queensferry make the most of the light. We watch the forecast and suggest changes if mountain weather turns.
Yes. Alongside our day tours we plan multi-day Scotland tours from Edinburgh — typically three to seven days across the Highlands, the Isle of Skye and the islands, with accommodation arranged for you. See our multi-day tours or bespoke tours, or tell us how long you have.
Of course. Every tour is flexible — linger where you like, skip what you don’t, or swap a stop. If your choices extend the day beyond the hours quoted, overtime is charged at £55 per additional hour, and your driver-guide will always tell you before it begins.
Every one of these days can be reshaped around your interests, your pace and your group — or combined into a multi-day journey. Just ask.
