These terms apply when you book a private tour with Tycoon Tours Scotland. They sit alongside the written quote we send you — where your quote states something specific about your trip, the quote takes precedence.
Tycoon Tours Scotland provides private, chauffeur-driven guided tours departing from Edinburgh and travelling throughout Scotland. In these terms, “we” and “us” mean Tycoon Tours Scotland, and “you” means the person making the booking on behalf of everyone travelling.
You can reach us on +44 7398 181234 or at info@tycoontours.co.uk.
Enquiring costs nothing. We do not need any payment or card details to prepare a quote, and we aim to reply within 24 hours with availability and a written price.
A quote sets out the route, the vehicle, the hours planned and the total price. It is an offer, not a booking, and it remains open for a reasonable period or until the date is taken by someone else.
A booking exists only once you have paid in full and we have confirmed it to you in writing. Until then no date is held for you.
You are responsible for the accuracy of the details you give us — particularly your pickup address, date, start time and the number of people travelling. Please tell us before the day about mobility requirements, child seats, allergies or anything else that affects how we plan the route.
Our tours are priced per vehicle, not per person. Every tour is booked as a whole for a maximum of 4 guests, and the price is the same whether one of you travels or four.
Unless your quote says otherwise, every price includes:
The following are not included in the tour price and are payable by you:
Where we book tickets or accommodation on your behalf, we do so as agent and the supplier’s own terms will apply.
Full payment is due at the time of booking, for day tours, multi-day tours and bespoke trips alike. We do not take part-payments, and your date is secured only once the full amount has been received.
If you cancel, section 8 explains how refunds work.
If you would like to change your tour date, please ask us in writing, by email or WhatsApp. Date changes are subject to availability. We will do our best to fit in with you, and we will explain any extra charges before you agree to the change.
Please also tell us as early as you can if the number of people travelling (up to 4) or your pickup details change. The price does not change, as every tour is priced per vehicle. Where a change alters the length of the day, we will re-quote before confirming.
Every private tour is arranged only for your party. Once your booking is confirmed, we reserve the agreed vehicle, driver-guide and tour date for you.
You can cancel by phone, email or WhatsApp. Any refund depends on how much notice you give before your tour date:
| Cancellation notice | Refund |
|---|---|
| 30 calendar days or more before departure | 100% refund |
| 21 to 29 calendar days before departure | 50% refund |
| Less than 21 calendar days before departure | No standard refund |
| Not attending the tour (no-show) | No standard refund |
Notice is counted to the day we receive your cancellation, in Scottish local time. Section 10 explains what counts as a no-show.
Why we charge for cancellations. A private tour is reserved for you alone, so a cancellation leaves us with costs and losses. These can include advance reservations, third-party charges, other bookings we turned away and other costs we cannot avoid.
Where we have booked accommodation, tickets or other third-party services on your behalf, those suppliers’ own cancellation terms may also apply. We will set these out in writing on your quote before you commit.
Refunds. Approved refunds are processed within 14 calendar days of us confirming that a refund is due, using your original payment method wherever possible.
We will only cancel your tour ourselves if we genuinely cannot run it, for example because of driver illness or a vehicle failure. If we cancel before departure, we will offer you a full refund or, if you agree, an alternative tour date.
We do not provide a substitute driver-guide on the day of your tour. We may use a different vehicle of an equivalent standard, which is not a cancellation.
Bad weather, official weather warnings and road closures are outside our control and are not cancellations by us. Those tours are postponed, not refunded, as set out in section 13.
We work to Scottish local time. All dates, pickup times, deadlines and notice periods on our website, in your quote and confirmation, and in these terms are in UK time as observed in Scotland: Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) in winter and British Summer Time (BST) in summer. If you are booking from abroad, please check the time difference.
Your confirmation states the pickup time and the planned length of the day. Please be ready at the agreed time.
Your driver-guide will wait up to 30 minutes after the pickup time. If you are late, the tour still ends at the planned time, so a late start shortens the day rather than extending it.
If no one in your party arrives within 30 minutes of the pickup time, the tour is treated as a no-show. It is cancelled and no refund is due.
The plan stays flexible — you can linger somewhere you love or skip something you do not. Where your choices extend the day beyond the hours quoted, overtime is charged at £55 per additional hour. Your driver-guide will always tell you before overtime begins, so you can decide.
Every tour takes a maximum of 4 guests, travelling together in one private vehicle. Everyone travelling must be included in the number you give us, and we cannot carry more than 4 guests on any tour.
Luggage space is limited and varies by vehicle. Tell us in advance if you are travelling with large cases, golf clubs or similar.
Seatbelts must be worn at all times. Please do not smoke or vape in the vehicle.
Your driver-guide may end a tour early, without refund, if anyone in your party behaves in a way that is unsafe, illegal, or abusive towards the driver or others. We would not do this lightly.
You are responsible for any damage or soiling caused to the vehicle by your party beyond fair wear.
Tours run in all normal Scottish weather — nothing is cancelled for rain. Your driver-guide may reorder stops on the day to follow better light or shelter, which is part of how a private tour works and is not a change to your booking.
If bad weather, an official weather warning or a road closure makes your tour unsafe or impossible to run, the tour is postponed. These events are outside our control, so no refund is given.
A postponed tour is rescheduled to another day, at our discretion and subject to our availability. We do not confirm a new date at the time the tour is postponed. Instead, we will contact you within 1 to 2 days with the dates we can offer.
If we have no available date, or none of the dates we offer suit you, the booking ends at that point and no refund is due.
Please take your belongings with you when you leave the vehicle. We will do what we reasonably can to return anything left behind, but we cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage to personal property.
We carry the insurance required to operate private hire in Scotland. That cover does not extend to your personal travel risks, so we strongly recommend you hold your own travel insurance covering cancellation, medical costs and personal belongings.
We are responsible for providing the tour with reasonable care and skill. We are not liable for losses that were not foreseeable, or for missed onward travel, accommodation or events where the delay was outside our reasonable control.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
If something is not right, please tell your driver-guide at the time so we have a chance to put it right on the day. Anything unresolved can be raised with us at info@tycoontours.co.uk and we will respond within 14 days.
We use the details you give us to plan and deliver your tour and to contact you about your booking. We do not sell your data. Where we book accommodation or tickets for you, we share only what that supplier needs.
These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and the Scottish courts have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
If anything here is unclear, or you want a specific point confirmed in writing before you book, just ask — we would rather answer first than have you guess.
